Excited For Student Ministry At Victory Outreach Church

29 09 2009

This past month we were able to hear a powerful series from our Pastor titled ” Legacy”
This is the season in which God is going to pour out his presence upon our students of Victory Outreach.
My prayer is that we see students get radically filled with the power of the Holy Spirit……….
In just a few days we will introduce a student standard in which parents and members of our church will see what we value and teach as the Now Generation here in San Diego….
I believe our students are like arrows in a quiver ready to get launched into the city of San Diego and beyond…
Our ministry has a strong heritage for the Lord and we want to see the vision expand into the lives of our young people…. Stay tuned as I get ready to post up some more exciting stuff….

Building The Team For G.A.N.G. Ministry

1 04 2009

2009-gang-nightJust to let everyone that my exercise and fitness has been great. That was just for free. Anyways, this morning I really wanted to jot down some things on teamwork. Tonight I will be meeting with the team here in San Diego and I wanted to share some notes with you. Some of these notes I jotted down from Pastor Sonny’s Message entitled ” The healthy Team” real good stuff.

Five  Essentials that I will be sharing

1. The team must embrace the vision-

  • God gave a burden to rebuild the walls of jerusalem. After he seen the walls destroyed, he began to pray and fast to the Lord as he interceded for the people. The Lord gave him a vision.
  • As a team we must embrace the vision and look beyond the appearance , God has called the G.A.N.G. to reach hurting young people and many times we fall into the danger of how are we going to build this rather than build the people. The team must embrace the vision and mission of God’s Anointed Now Generation.

2. Every Person on the Team must know their role.

  • Each person has value and should be in their power-spot. If its evangelism then it needs to be evangelism, if its junior high then jr high. How many times as youth leaders do we put people in a place of ministry and find out that its not their passion or gifting to be there.
  • We must evaluate the passion of our youth leaders and direct them to where God can raise them up to be the best they can be.
  • Remember ” When One Wins, We all Win”

3. The Team Must have Chemistry-

  • This is vitally important because if anyone on the team don’t like each other or like working with each other then the results can be negative. This is what I call a lot of dropped balls and there will be no rhythm on how ministry can get done.
  • That is why its important that team building is emphasis, some ideas are to hang out once a month and fellowship with one another. Or maybe have dinner together and share laughs.
  • As the team builds in this then you will begin to each team player want to give their best at any cost, trust their life with one another, share blessings and victories.

4. The team must value communication-

  • How many times have heard or even said ‘ I didnt know about it” That could be one frustration that can setback a powerful team.

There are three things to strive for in communication with the team and they are

  1.   Consistency – There must be consistency in coomunicating the vision and plans for ministry
  2. Clarity- There must be clear direction and understanding of the vision, this is the part where WE MUST SLOW DOWN and be clear..
  3.  Courtesy- We must be kind to one another and not abuse any position we may have on the team.

5. The team must know how to gracefully resolve any CONFLICTS ( hello)

Some steps to settle some unresolved conflicts are

  1. Speak the truth in love ( You will need to speak because you care and not that you are trying to jam the person)
  2.  Seek to understand the others point of view.
  3.  Seek to understand common ground.
  4.  Make expectations clear.
  5. NO THIRD PARTY HE said , She Said. LOL Thats a faithful one

Remember we can not build the G.A.N.G. all by our selves we will need a powerful team to explode our youth ministry and God has blessed the G.A.N.G. with people that can make a difference. Just Nehemiah , he could not do it on his own but God raised up a team.

Saturday Night G.A.N.G. Regional Service

25 03 2009

_mg_32162009 is going to be the year where we see God move in a powerful for God’s Anointed Now Generation. This past saturday we had a powerful service with about 200 young people. Our region came together and we had a illustrated sermon called “Sold Out”.

We started the night with a powerful icebreaker called “Give it all you got” , we had 1 young person from each church come up and preach for 2 minutes and give it all they got. It was tight!!!!!!!!!! This one cat from Escondido Jonathan went up there and just preached away and gave it all he got it was cool .He spoke on answering the call of God.

Then i spoke a message on being sold out for God and it hit on five things that the devil tries to hit us in 1. Our Mind, 2. Our Body, 3. Our values, 4. Our soul and 5. Our heart.

What will protect these five areas is the word of God. Because we live in a society where the enemy is constantly attacking us in every way shape and form we must protect our lives as Christians. Especially being in high school, ” I KNOW” , it’s hard. I went to high school. But I believe as a young man or woman that is jumped in the G.A.N.G. we cannot compromise our relationship with God. We must be sold out for him.

Some of the things that will help.

1. Read Your Word 2. Get around people that are faith filled and love God and want to serve God 3. GET RID OF SOME YOUR MUSIC THAT GETS IN YOUR HEAD……….4. Tell your friends about Jesus and who he is in your life…

God has called us as young people to live and walk in purity and we must be able to recognize how to live for God and not sell out to the devil and the world.

Today Is A Good Day

18 03 2009

Today, I woke up in the morning thanking God for another beautiful day. Not only am I blessed through his word, but I feeling great about my health. I woke up looking forward going to the gym I just enrolled in, I took a step of faith by committing myself to a gym for the next 34 months.(WOW)  I just hope that I can make a lifestyle for me.

This is very important because a ministry minded individual I always want to make sure that Ministry is always moving, But this year I have to stop and look and said hey Im not getting any younger and i need to take care of me..One thing that I have learned is that exercising regualary can really help me out in the ministry.Help me in the sense of reducing any burnout.

Sometimes you just need to take time to take care of you…Taking care of you involves eating right, exercising and developing healthy relationships….

Those three things can help reduce the stress of ministry….and actually reduce burnout.. Quite often as youth leaders we don’t discuss this because we are on the move for Jesus. But hey this will help you and your ministry. We want to be sharp and be ready and also last the long haul not only spiritually but physically……….

Spend Time

5 03 2009

This past Saturday we were able to get together as a region and meet over some of the things we are going to do in the G.A.N.G. It was real exciting as we went over the life flow of the G.A.N.G. and really emphasizing on the value of the G.A.N.G. in our local churches. One thing that stuck out to me was that we need to build strong relationships with the church kids.

I believe God is going to do something powerful within the lives of our church kids here at Victory Outreach San Diego. Last year , Pastor Al had envisioned the church to get behind the G.A.N.G. and really start reaching our church kids.

As God was putting it in our youth team’s heart to reach these kids like never before, we began to pray and just start reaching………………….

Little by little we are winning these young people over to Christ. Some of the things that we are doing that is becoming effective are

1. Select ones that can only be reached through one on one, because when all of these catz are together. NO WAY ! you are not going to be able to minister to all of  them. One on one relationship is the key and little by little as you are sincere about that relationship that PK or CK will for sure open up………Then BAM lead that cat to Jesus……………………….

2. Plan specific getaways that will concentrate on targeted young people. Usually you get the leader of every pack in the church and bring them all in one spot for one night. This is cool because they go in not knowing anyone, but then the next morning they become friends and then they know who the other serious ones are…..

3. Just straight out spend time , nothing will replace the time you spend as a youth leader with your youth. I like to go to basketball games being that its basketball season and all……But even though you may not be all into the NBA and all. The young people feel it and know that you are for real.

So todays tip is just “Spend Time with them”

“Vital” is the word

_mg_3491“Those that wait on the Lord”

Well this is my first blog of the this great new tool that I found online and I cant to write about many different things.

The other day I was watching a youth ministry online and I began to see so many young people coming to the altar praising God. It was an exciting video and I remember a thought that had come across my mind and the thought was that “I am living in a vital moment of this day”.

The other night we had a concert at our youth service and at the end of the concert Urban D turned the service back over to me and as I was there I felt led by the Lord to continue with the altar call and to wait for one more person to make their way to the altar. As I made the call, I mentioned that there was one person and that we were going to wait before we prayed. Well as I went by faith I went ahead and prayed.

Then the next day , a new member of our church named Sonya came up to me after service and had said ” Brother Tim I just wanted to let you know that last night my daughter got saved” I said “Praise the Lord” But wait there’s more she said” Do you remember when you said that there was one more person and that you were going  to wait.I said “yeah” She said ” That was my daughter and I have been praying for her that she would give her heart to the Lord.” I said “AMEN, God is good”

At that moment God showed me that it was well worth it to wait on him, even when the enemy tries to tell you that your not doing good as a youth leader. But to hear that people are getting saved is beautiful.
